The ISTQB Glossary

In compiling the glossary the working party sought the views and comments of as broad a spectrum of opinion as possible in industry, commerce and government bodies and organizations, with the aim of producing an international testing standard which would gain acceptance in as wide a field as possible. The ISTQB Glossary is used as a reference document for the ISTQB software testing qualification scheme. The document presents concepts, terms and definitions designed to aid communication in (software) testing and related disciplines.

Accreditations and qualifications

The ISTQB Certified Tester program provides certification for software testers internationally. There are currently three levels of certification:

For all three levels, international working groups develop and maintain internationally uniform curricula and examinations. One of the core principles of the program is a strict separation between the administration of examinations and the training of those who would like to prepare for the examination in ISTQB compliant courses.
